MFC Military Defence Capabilities 

Over 50 years experience in manufacturing for the UK military Founded in 1959 at the old Naval Colliery site in Tonypandy, South Wales, MFC International (formally MFC Survival) Initially made life jackets and life rafts for the Royal Navy and commercial shipping ports. After several years the company expanded into the design and manufacture of inflatable products, focusing on the defence and rescue industries.

MFC International quickly became a respected name in the field of inflatable’s, supplying equipment. MFC International boast an impressive history of innovation; we were the original inventor of airlift bags, one of the original manufacturers of aircraft recovery bags and one of the first to introduce inflatable shelters. In July 2013, MFC became part of the Respirex International group of companies, who enjoy a worldwide reputation for providing high performance chemical and particulate personal protective equipment (PPE) solutions and unrivalled after sales support and service.

Today MFC International continues to specialise in the design, development and manufacture of specialist inflatable equipment for the emergency and rescue services and for the UK Ministry of Defence. Our range of pr oducts for the UK armed forces has grown to include concealment sets, inflatable shelters, water storage and rescue equipment, and we have also worked on a number of one off special projects.

Water Rescue Military-1

Rescue Equipment

MFC International manufacture a range of inflatable water rescue equipment including rescue sleds for shallow water urban, rural and coastal operations; rescue paths for access over mud, ice or water and inflatable stretchers for mountain rescue.

MFC International also manufacture a range of inflatable lifting bags and mats, with lifting capacities up to 68 Tonnes.

BLACK BOATS AND AIRTRACKS 

The RS series Rescue Sleds are flood water rescue craft for inshore crisis rescues and flooded urban and coastal areas. The Rescue Sled is available in five standard sizes 3, 5, 6, 10 & 15 person. The 3, 5 & 6 person sleds are ideal for swift-water and narrow access rescue.

The 10 & 15 person sleds are wider with a larger floor area and corresponding load capacity and are more suited for emergency evacuation situations. Used for crisis rescue, flood rescue, river rescue, flooded coastal and urban areas, casualty recovery and shallow water rescue.

Airtrack Rescue Path (Hypalon)

The Airtrack is an inflatable rescue path used by the majority of the rescue services for accessing casualties during rescue on water, mud, ice and unstable terrain.

Constructed in a catamaran shape, the Airtrack has two sponsons running lengthways down the underside of the path. This shape provides exceptional stability on water, especially during casualty recovery. It also offers clearance on ice, mud flats and unstable terrain, and prevents suction onto mud and soft surfaces.

The Airtrack rescue path is available in various sizes, from 2 to 15m in length. To span greater distances or for increased capacity, several inflatable paths can be connected using the rapid extension link-up feature. Airtracks can either be connected lengthways to extend the path, or sideways to create a rescue raft, making the Airtrack a truly versatile piece of water rescue equipment.

The Airtrack is compact and portable, packing away neatly into the carrying valise provided. It can be inflated and deployed quickly allowing rescue personnel access to the casualty within minutes.

Military Shelter

Deployed in minutes the unique inflatable rapid response shelter has been supplied to emergency services and armed forces worldwide. Shelters are available in a range of sizes and colours and can be supplied with optional pressure compensating units to maintain the structure during day/night temperature fluctuations. Supplied with a comprehensive range of standard equipment, our shelters can also be supplied with a variety of optional accessories including heating, lighting and removable flooring.

Pillow Tanks

Pillow Tanks provide a robust and quickly deployable solution for the storage and transportation of water.

Manufactured with integrated handles, and lifting points on larger sizes, they are designed to be as easy as possible to transport when full. They come complete with restraining straps to limit movement during transportation and are suitable for use on various different vehicles, including on the back of a 4x4. When empty the Pillow Tanks collapse down for compact storage and can be carried by 1-2 people.

Constructed from exceptionally strong and durable material, the Pillow Tanks provide a reliable solution for temporary or long term water storage.

Inflatable Reservoirs

A simple, quickly deployable solution for the storage of water and other liquids. Ideal for rapid response emergency situations, these Reservoirs can be transported to the scene and set up easily, providing an immediate storage container.

With a flotation collar around the rim inflated using a compressed air cylinder, hand pump or compressor reservoirs create a self-supporting water storage solution in minutes. They are lightweight and compact to store when empty and require minimal ground preparation before use.

Constructed from exceptionally durable heavy duty material, Reservoirs are very low maintenance, easy to clean, and straightforward to repair using the kit provided.

Air Force X1 Lifting Bag

Air Force X1 bags have been designed to military specifications. The Air Force X1 bag is capable of lifting up to 5 tonnes on its own or 10 tonnes when used as a pair.

The lifting surfaces are extremely strong and durable and it can be inflated over broken glass or other sharp hazards.

The Air Force X1 lifting bag is relatively low pressure which means its soft footprint enables you to lift objects on soft ground such as snow, sand or ice. It exerts a soft force against the load, preventing damage to vulnerable structures. These are used for road traffic incidents, lifting objects on soft ground such as snow, sand or ice. Even for raising submerged vehicles and small craft.

Proud History Supporting Defence
While we no longer stock the following military products, our work in this sector reflects the quality, capability, and bespoke nature of what MFC can deliver.
 
In the past, we supplied inflatable shelters for the MOD, naval boats, life jackets, and specialist concealment nets all designed to meet the unique demands of defence environments. MFC Survival manufactured a range of high performance technical life jackets for the Military. We stocked a range of options and accessories are available including automatic inflation, spray hoods etc. Life jackets we manufactured had a service life of 10 years if properly used and maintained. MFC also supplied a range of general purpose civilian and specialist water rescue life jackets.

Correctly deployed camouflage systems can dramatically reduce the possibility of detection no matter how sophisticated the surveillance technique. Simple, effective and necessary for the continued provision of invisibility.

MFC Survival has been supplying camouflage systems to the UK Ministry of Defence for a number of years and to other armed forces from various countries around the world.
